Is it really a good idea to have a day where anything goes? That’s a matter of opinion. Some people may argue giving in to urges once per week only makes it easier to slip back into bad habits.

Early man had to go hungry if he couldn’t hunt or scavenge food.
Intermittent fasting was a normal part of life and it could be argued the body adapted to it many generations ago.
However, this type of diet may not be a good option for diabetics or people who have certain other health problems.
