Skinny coffee is the trendy new weight loss drink that combines everyone’s favorite beverage with a fat burning diet drink. IT Works Skinny Brew is receiving media attention – does it work? Read the LabMeeting review
Skinny Brew Coffee Review Summary: the concept of drinking coffee to help lose weight is not new. IT Works have tried to enhance this concept by adding a nootropic element and other health benefits into the mix.
Skinny Brew is a very expensive weight loss aid as well. Bearing in mind the formulation’s reliance on stimulants, you may be able to get comparable effects by drinking two cups of standard coffee instead of one or adding an extra spoon to the cup.

What is IT Works Skinny Brew?
Skinny Brew is a weight loss coffee that provides more than double the amount of caffeine present in a standard cup of coffee. If you normally prefer to drink decaf, Skinny Brew probably isn’t going to be a good option to choose.
In addition to standard coffee powder and green coffee bean extract, Skinny Brew also provides several other ingredients to work alongside the stimulants to further sharpen concentration and mental focus.
If you are only used to drinking normal coffee in the morning, switching to Skinny Brew could be an eye-opening experience but it’s very expensive, has the potential to cause side effects, and is unlikely to be capable of providing long-term weight loss support.
It’s not all bad though. Each serving of coffee is packed inside a tear-open sachet that makes it easy to be sure you are always getting the optimum dose.

Who Makes Skinny Brew Weight Loss Coffee?
Skinny Brew is manufactured by IT Works. It’s a multi-level marketing (MLM) company that has been operating since 2001.
The company was founded by Mark and Cindy Pentecost. Mark was a high-school math teacher and Cindy was a stay-at-home mom.
The couple developed a body-toning wrap and hoped it would generate enough sales to earn them a few hundred extra dollars a month.
Their invention was a roaring success that generated more than $200 million in sales by 2012.
Since then, IT Works has expanded its range of products (such as ThermoFightX). Skinny Brew is one of the weight management options available via the company’s website and distributors.
How Does IT Works Skinny Brew Work?
Skinny Brew is mainly designed to function as a metabolism booster. It also increases thermogenesis. Any product that can do these things can help you to burn more calories per day than you could via diet and exercise alone.
Unfortunately, Skinny Brew is largely reliant on caffeine to boost metabolism and thermogenesis. Research shows it can do these things (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2912010/) but higher doses increase the risk of side effects.
The other problem with caffeine is your body adjusts to its presence with regular use and develops a higher tolerance. When this happens, caffeine’s benefits diminish.
High doses of caffeine are unlikely to work for weight loss in the long term.
What’s the Best Way to Use Skinny Brew?
Skinny Brew coffee is easy to use. All you do is tear open the sachet and combine the contents with 6-8 fl. oz of hot or cold water, stir it, and then start sipping.
IT Works makes it clear this weight loss coffee may not be suitable for everyone. Women who are pregnant or nursing are warned not to drink it without consulting their physician first. As are people who are using medication or suffer from medical conditions.

Can the Skinny Brew Ingredients Work
Chromium (1000 mg)
This is a useful ingredient provided in a decent dose. It’s generous but not dangerously high.
Many diet pills provide chromium picolinate because it delivers the mineral chromium in a form that’s easily absorbed.
Research shows supplements that provide 200-1000 mg of chromium per day may improve blood glucose control. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15208835/)
Chromium’s ability to regulate blood glucose may allow it to prevent the blood sugar crashes that often trigger urges for sugar and carbs.
Skinny Blend (5.277 g)
The name says it all. This blend houses the ingredients that aim to support weight loss and help customer lose weight.
Although the main player is undoubtedly caffeine, green tea is a proven metabolism booster as well. Chicory is a surprise inclusion though. The main thing it’s likely to do is to add flavor but the insulin it provides is prebiotic. That means it’s food for the probiotic bacteria that live in your gut.
Green coffee bean extracts are not normally as high in caffeine as standard coffee extracts so it’s surprising to see it listed as the main caffeine provider.
In addition to providing caffeine, green coffee bean also provides chlorogenic acid. Like chromium, it’s good for keeping blood sugar levels on the straight and narrow.
Guarana is a tropical berry that provides caffeine. Yerba mate is the leaf that makes yerba mate tea. In South America, it’s a popular refreshing drink.
Nootropic Blend (50 mg)
There’s not a lot going on here. With five ingredients involved, the doses are going to be pretty low.
However, all five ingredients are associated with improvements in mental focus and cognitive function.
L-theanine is a good addition to the formulation because it may help take the edge off caffeine, reducing the chances of side effects.
Rhodiola also stands out as one of the better inclusions. It’s a popular adaptogen herb that’s good for reducing anxiety and stress.
IT Works Skinny Brew Customer Reviews
The Skinny Brew sales page shows a few before and after pictures that aren’t particularly convincing. One of them is supposedly from someone who lost weight with Skinny Brew. The other two are allegedly from people who lost weight while using the coffee in combination with other IT Works products.
Anyone who checks the text below the pictures carefully will learn they where provided by IT Works distributors.
It’s hard to find reliable sources of customer feedback or Skinny Brew Coffee reviews. Most of the reviews available via unbiased sites are negative and are generally from people making allegations of shady business practices and lost money.
Skinny Brew Side Effects
Is Skinny Brew safe? IT Works states Skinny Brew green coffee provides 225 mg of caffeine, taken from all sources. We are concerned it may be more.
The supplement facts state 75 mg of the caffeine comes from coffee powder and another 150 mg from green coffee bean extracts. That’s your 225 mg right there.
However, Skinny Brew also provides guarana. It’s a source of caffeine too and its only value is as a caffeine provider.
The formulation has yerba mate as well. It’s not as potent as caffeine but it’s a stimulant too.
This is very much a stimulant-driven product. It’s probably going to provide two to three times the stimulation of a standard cup of coffee. Many people may be okay with that.
However, some people may not be able to handle so much stimulation in a single cup and may experience headaches, heart palpitations, nausea, and other side effects that are common to stimulants.
Several of the other ingredients have the potential to cause side effects too.
Alpha GPC can cause headaches, heartburn, dizziness, and skin rash.
Bacopa monnieri can cause stomach cramps, nausea, and dry mouth.
Griffonia simplicifolia side effects can include diarrhea, stomach ache, rapid heart rate, drowsiness, and vomiting. Plus the safety aspects of using it long-term are not known. https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-1608/griffonia-simplicifolia
Where to Buy Skinny Brew Coffee – Purchasing Options and Considerations
IT Works is an MLM business so it’s a little different to deal with than traditional-type supplement companies.
When people show an interest in buying any IT Works products, they are encouraged to become a “Loyal Customer.”
Loyal Customers get a 40% discount and all purchases. However, they have to agree to a one-off payment of $50 to do so. Alternatively, they can agree to continue receiving fresh shipments every month.
Customers who try to make purchases via the company website are encouraged to go through one of the distributors. The other option is to check out as a guest. It’s very hard to do this without accidentally signing up for the company’s auto-ship program.
At the time of this review, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) had received more than 600 complaints about IT Works in the previous three years. That’s a lot.
The IT Works profile page at the BBB was also showing an alert warning people there has been a “pattern of complaints” from customers who alleged they had to pay additional, unexpected charges and had difficulty severing their ties with the company.
Skinny Brew fat-burning coffee is available in three pack sizes:
- 15 Servings ($50)
- 30 Servings ($81)
- 60 Servings ($116)
Paint it any way you want, this is an expensive coffee, and using it for weight loss will cost you a lot more than using any of the top-rate diet pills.
Guarantee
There is no money-back guarantee – 0r guarantee you will lose weight.
Skinny Brew Reviews Conclusion
Skinny Brew provides a high dose of caffeine. That alone is enough to allow it to do most of the things it is meant to do – at least for the short term. The benefits are likely to diminish as the body adjusts.
Skinny Brew is a very expensive weight loss aid as well. Bearing in mind the formulation’s reliance on stimulants, you may be able to get comparable effects by drinking two cups of standard coffee instead of one or adding an extra spoon to the cup.
If it were cheaper to buy, this weight loss coffee may be worth a punt but, unless you become a Loyal Customer, you are going to be paying $193 – $3.33 per cup.
That doesn’t compare too badly to drinking coffee at Starbucks but the coffee you get there is less likely to cause side effects and after you have paid your bill you are done.
Things are not so simple with Skinny Brew Coffee. There is an alarming number of complaints from customers who allege their cards have been hit with unexpected charges and just as many complaints from people who say they were hooked into an unexpected auto-ship routine.
Our advice is to think twice before ordering a Skinny Brew.
