Research Summary

Motor Development Currently in our lab, we have two large studies underway. For more detailed information of our ongoing research studies. Below is a quick synopsis of the two projects – both aimed at understanding the development of perception and action relations from birth through childhood. Adaptive Sensorimotor Control in Children with DCD This project examines the hypothesis that children with DCD have problems with the relationship between perception and action and more specifically their ability to adapt their movements to changes in the environment and to different tasks. This project is funded by the National Institutes of Health. A Longitudinal Study of Infant Posture This project is in its fourth year and involves a longitudinal research study of the development of perception-action coupling as infants gain postural control from the time they first start sitting until they have been walking nine months. This work is funded by the National Science Foundation.
